Week 4 – 11 miles

Today’s post is brought to you by: a little bit too much wine.

Last night a couple friends of ours invited us over for dinner. I’m not a big drinker, usually. I think the last time I had any alcohol was on my birthday, so I decided I wanted to enjoy a glass of wine with dinner….which then led to another glass of wine and then one two mixed drinks.

Today’s run was 11 miles and come sickness or injury, or a little bit too much wine, I was going to run it anyway.

Now don’t think I got too crazy –  I mean I quit drinking at 10 and was still home and in bed by 11 (I know, I am such a party animal) but today’s run was definitely a little rougher. Thankfully, Lynnsey also had a bit too much wine at a dinner last night so we were both on the same page this morning.

(unfortunately this picture is NOT the result of too much wine- that’s just us…..I really look a little scary)

Lynnsey also recently got over a bad sinus infection which got me thinking about how if you’ve gotten to the point of training for a marathon, there isn’t going to be much that will stop you from running. Lynnsey ran this week, sinus infection and all. Another friend of mine has run with an ankle injury and if you recall my first post:https://acoursetothefinishline.wordpress.com/2011/09/25/marathon-training-take-2/   I talked about a recent run that involved hacking and spitting every mile. Pretty much the only thing keeping me from running is vomiting or a fever.

I’m not sure if that makes me totally dedicated or totally crazy.

All in all the run itself was fine. I ran a mile alone first because my schedule had me doing 11 and hers 10.  AND Ms Lynnsey agreed to run the full marathon with me in January, so I no longer have to train alone! WOO HOO!

We finished 10 in right around an hour and a half. Not bad for a little too much wine 🙂
