Week 3 – 6 miles (actually did 8 miles – things are so easy now, just wait till later!)

Sometimes you meet friends in really strange places.

A couple of weeks ago I was on the hunt for some new running shoes at Dick’s. (As a side note, if searching for Dicks Sporting Goods.com, don’t forget the “Sporting Goods” part….). My old ones were giving me blisters and I was tired of having to wear a bandaid on my toe every time. Another girl was there shopping for running shoes herself, and because I am known for my infinite shyness (HA!) I asked a complete stranger if she was looking for a running buddy.

Every once in awhile my brain will come up with good ideas. πŸ™‚

She is currently training for a half marathon in December, though, after today I’m trying to convince her to join me. We’ve both run one marathon and so I’m trying to talk her into number two.

I met her at her house today and (again with the shyness) asked an almost complete stranger if I could take a picture with her so I could put it on my blog.

She immediately posed like this:

Considering I tend to pose for pictures like this:

Awesome. πŸ™‚ Yes I think we will get along well.

She also appreciated my awesome shirt. Dummy me didn’t have her take the picture close enough to

actually READ it, so it says “13.1 I don’t go all the way” (HAHAHAHA! Thank you Kim Mallin!!)

The run itself was pretty uneventful. We ran from her house to her mom’s house (also super cool) and her mom drove us back. One interesting thing you find when running with someone it that you’ll get to know them in NO time.Β  You have nothing else to do but move your feet and talk, so any and all topics will be discussed. One of my other favorite things to do is watch drivers’ reactions to us/me as they drive by. I wish I could capture on camera some of the faces. One guy literally gave us a “what in the heck are you DOING?” face.(uh, I’m running. Duh)

Next week’s long run is 11 miles for me, 10 for her (unless she decides to get cool and join me- hint hint!).

Looks like I might not have to train alone after all!
